THE "BIO" LABEL ON PLASTERS

Products labeled "bio" and "eco" stormed our everyday life and our consciousness.

It is difficult to walk past the storefronts without noticing the boldly displayed ecological trends.

There are special sections or at least shelves in stores, where you can buy organic groats, jams, wafers or other products necessary for life. There are even special health food stores that, for our benefit, carefully work on the offer in such a way as to provide us with only products free of artificial additives and GMOs. We will not buy tomatoes with the shark’s gene in these stores, but an apple straight from the farmer.

Chemist shops are outdoing each other by enriching their offers of eco cosmetics, both for care and for make-up. How can you refuse to be beautiful, healthy and well-groomed?

Clothing stores are not giving up either: organic cotton underwear, breathable bras (they breathe by themselves :), blouses with the 'sustainable fashion' label.

Only a few manage to ignore these products, pass by and generally remain indifferent.

However, few people know that in order for a product to be considered organic, it must be manufactured in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No. 834/2007 of 28 June, 2007 on organic production and labelling of organic products. This regulation articulates general principles, for example responsible use of energy and natural resources such as water, soil, organic matter and air, as well as specific rules for organic agriculture, such as minimising the use of non-renewable resources and external resources.

Of course, it is not always possible to buy an ecological product and it is not always necessary to do so. It is generally about choosing and consuming consciously, supporting companies that care about sustainable development and respect the environment in which we live and in which our children and grandchildren will live.

Therefore, whenever we have such an opportunity, it is worth reaching for products manufactured in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), that is, meeting certain standards that must be met by manufacturers of products from a given industry. Initially, GMP was only in force in the pharmaceutical industry, but now it is also established in other areas of the industry, mainly due to the benefits it gives the consumer - you are sure that you are buying a safe product.

If you take a closer look at the GMP rules, it becomes clear where this safety comes from. We, as consumers, do not see the conditions under which the products we buy are manufactured (in a musty garage or in a hall with modern technical equipment, where hygiene standards are maintained). Therefore, it is worth buying products that are manufactured in accordance with GMP. Then we can be sure that the manufacturer has made an effort to ensure appropriate production conditions, and controls not only where the raw materials come from, but also the employees in terms of their health.

TZMO SA plasters are manufactured in accordance with GMP, and the company itself makes sure that both the manufacturing and investment processes are carried out in a sustainable manner, respecting the natural environment.

Another important parameter worth paying attention to when purchasing medical devices is information on biocompatibility. As this term is not widely known, it is worth explaining here that biocompatible products are products that have been biologically assessed in accordance with PN EN ISO 10993 "Biological evaluation of medical devices" and have been positively assessed. In accordance with the above-mentioned standard, the effect of a medical device on the body's tissues is tested. Since the plaster comes into direct contact with the skin during use, it is worth following this criterion when choosing the right product. Especially now, when more and more allergies are being diagnosed, especially in children.

A medical device must be biologically safe. It must be tested for chemical, biological and dermatological safety. The PN EN ISO 10993 standard specifies the scope of tests that medical devices must undergo, depending on the time of contact with the body, in order to be considered biologically safe.

Three tests are selected for plasters registered as medical devices that come into direct contact with the skin:

  • cytotoxic effect
  • allergenic effect
  • sensitising effect.

On the basis of the conducted research, it was found that the plasters produced by TZMO SA: UNIVERSAL, TRANSPARENT, COMFORT, AQUA STOP, CLASSIC, SOFT, HAPPY, HAPPY TATTOO, KIDS ZOO, MONSTERS, FAMILY, TRAVEL SET, OPTIMED JUNIOR are biocompatible, which means that they are non-sensitizing, non-irritating and non-cytotoxic. This information is printed on the package of each patch.
