Do you belong to those parents who played doctor with their children? Do you remember having plasters stuck to every teddy bear and having limbs wrapped in bandages? I do remember playing with my daughter, moreover, I often played the role of a patient with Mr. Bear. At first I had to tell the doctor what was wrong with the teddy bear, and then wait patiently until all medical procedures were completed. And of course hospitalization later, because daddy had to see the patient after he came home from work. In this game, my handbag was often used as a first aid kit. After a few weeks, I realized that there are more dressing materials in my purse than cosmetics. I bravely cleaned up my beautiful black purse, but it was like tilting at windmills. We played the doctor for maybe six months, and then it was time for the Monster dolls and I could finally take a break from the constant 'getting sick' and 'visits to the doctor' ...
I read somewhere that young parents should find time for themselves, so when we had the opportunity, we accepted an invitation to our friend’s wedding. A grandmother agreed to stay with our toddler. It was a hot summer, I could barely fit into the dress, but choosing high-heel sandals for my sore and slightly swollen feet was a miracle. Finally, we managed to leave the house. After a few steps, I began to feel a burning sensation in the area of the big toe (from Latin hallux), but without saying anything, I kept walking bravely. Who knows when I will have the opportunity to go to a ceremony like that again, I thought? When we came to the church, my husband suggested that we stand at the door to protect us from the heat. After about an hour of standing, my feet hurt so much and I dreamed of sitting down... But I didn't want to spoil the day so I pretended to smile. Two hours later we were at the wedding house, and at last I could sit down calmly.
Bride and groom had their first dance, and then everyone started to dance. Oh, my feet! The part of the big toe began to throb, the part of the heel felt damp, as if something was seeping out of it. I had to sit down and take off my sandals. I was nervously looking for a handkerchief in my purse and suddenly… How lucky I was. There were plasters on the bottom of my purse - my child’s first aid kit…
We danced until dawn. It's good to have a doctor at home :)
